Since its establishment, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science has been responsible for training students in Mathematics, playing a crucial role in supplying high-quality human resources for this field. By the academic year 2020-2021, the Faculty expanded its scope by introducing the Data Science program to meet the growing demand for data analysis and processing in the digital era. Continuing this development, from the 2021-2022 academic year, the Faculty launched two additional programs: Mathematics and Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, aiming to provide in-depth training in interdisciplinary fields and the practical applications of Mathematics.
As of December 2024, the Faculty has approximately 1,493 students across various majors. Each year, around 350 new students are admitted, with the top 10% selected to join the prestigious Honor class, where they receive specialized instruction and guidance.
Detailed information regarding admissions for each program is updated in the Undergraduate Admissions Information section. The undergraduate training activities strictly adhere to the university's regulations, including academic policies, with specific details available on the Academic Affairs Office’s website.
Currently, the Faculty offers four undergraduate programs, providing a strong foundation in Mathematics and Computer Science to meet workforce demands in various scientific and technological fields. These programs are categorized into two cluster:

Location: University of Science, VNU-HCM
Objectives
The Spring School at the University of Science, VNU-HCM, fosters academic collaboration and professional connections with the Institute of Mathematics of Toulouse and ENS-Paris-Saclay, France. Our project aims to support the long-term development of applied data science in Vietnam, benefiting students, lecturers, and the broader academic community in Vietnam and neighboring countries.
The Spring School will feature introductory courses on statistics and machine learning in the first week, followed by more advanced courses (either theoretical or applied) in the second week. These courses are designed for senior undergraduate students (4th-year) and master's students in mathematics. Motivated 3rd-year students are also welcome to participate, particularly in the first week, along with PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and professionals in the field of statistics.
This school is planned to be held regularly in the coming years to sustain and develop collaboration between France and Vietnam in statistics, machine learning, and data science. Additionally, we hope that promising Vietnamese students will be encouraged to pursue PhD research under joint supervision with French experts.
