Since 2018, an annual event "Math Open Day" has been organized in Ho Chi Minh City by the Vietnamese Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) in cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh City Mathematical Society and various organizations in Ho Chi Minh City.
Each event consists of several general public lectures on the roles of mathematics, together with dozens of activity sections where participants play mathematics and scientific games and activities.
Each event has attracted thousands of school students, from elementary to highschool, and quite a lot of adults and media publicity.
Our faculty and our students have played a major part in organizing Math Open Day.

- Number theory and Cryptopgraphy: Secret messages
- Game theory: The game of NIM
- Recursive algorithm: The game Tower of Hanoi
- Travelling problem: Maze challenge
- Probability: Buffon needle and Monty Hall
- Math book exhibition
